Cookies and browser storage
We use a small amount of first-party browser storage for sign-in and to remember your cookie-notice choice. The public website currently uses no advertising pixels or optional analytics trackers.
Last updatedWhat is stored
A cookie is a small value a website asks your browser to store and send with later requests. Local storage is another browser facility, used here only to remember that you have acknowledged the essential-only notice. Neither item is used to build an advertising profile.
- cascade_session: a first-party authentication cookie set when you sign up or log in. It contains an opaque session token, not your password. It applies to this website, expires after a maximum of 30 days, and is cleared by logout. Production settings are Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax.
- syncscala_cookie_notice: a first-party local-storage preference with the value essential-only. It remembers that you acknowledged the cookie notice. It has no automatic expiry and remains until you clear it or your browser removes site data. It contains no unique visitor identifier and is not sent as a cookie with requests.
Why there is no advertising consent switch
The sign-in cookie is necessary to provide the authenticated service you request. The local notice preference simply remembers your choice. We do not ask you to accept advertising or analytics cookies when those technologies are not present. Acknowledging the notice does not give permission for unrelated tracking.
Website fonts are served from our own site rather than requested from an external font service. Sharing a page through an ordinary link does not load an embedded social-media tracker on that page. The destination service has its own policies when you choose to visit it.
If we introduce optional technologies that need consent, we will explain their purpose and provide a real choice before activating them. This policy will be updated to describe any new storage.
Your controls
You can block or remove cookies and local storage using your browser's settings for syncscala.com. Blocking the authentication cookie prevents sign-in from working. Clearing the cookie or logging out ends access from that browser, but does not delete your account. Clearing the notice preference makes the notice appear again.
The Cookies link in the footer is always available so you can review this information. For help with browser storage or a privacy request, contact support@syncscala.com or use our contact form. Our Privacy policy explains server-side records, which are separate from browser storage.
